Bonnie Kulvinskas, a registered nurse at Bellevue Plastic Surgeons and Dermavita MediSpa, is using her personal experience as a Botox and Restylane recipient with the patients she is seeing.
"I frequently answer questions for patients who are considering both treatments. "Did it hurt?' is usually the first question," she says. "It is not painful but you can hear a slight noise as the Botox is injected. It takes a few days for Botox to take effect, and then you notice smoother, wrinkle free skin and more natural an relaxed appearance.
Botox injections are used on the forehead, crow's feet, the glabella (the area between the brows), deep lip lines, muscle bands in the neck and puckered chin. The procedure can also be used to reshape your eyebrows. It is not permanent and needs to be repeated every four months, but for some people it can last longer.
Restylane can last up to seven months and is used for marionette lines(alongside the mouth), the nasal labial lines, the glabella (frown lines), and lipstick bleed lines (vertical lines above the lips). As far as Restylane is concerned, a topical anesthetic is usually used for the injection.
'Would you continue with these procedures?' patients always ask me," Bonnie says. "I enjoy the results on myself and I like the very nice enhancement I am seeing on our clients- You bet I would." |
